The Town Up North

With some time off work - Doug and I decided to take the girls 30 minutes North to the town most Buckeyes won't speak of.  Although home to the Wolverines - Ann Arbor has such great restaurants, shops - and Doug and I love the feel of the city.  We took the girls to an indoor play/climb/jump place.  Then we ventured downtown to Arbor Brewing company and enjoyed some tasty drinks from the brewery - and food too of course.  

Doug has the girls trained well - all three were muttering words of something stinking as we drove closer to the stadium.  We also heard multiple boos as we drove past M's.  It was such a fun day with our 5 - loved every bit of it.  And I may secretly be hoping that if the girls choose a Big 10 school - it's that school up North - way closer than the others!  But don't tell anyone I said that.  And Go Bucks.

...Can't describe how much I love to hear my little munchkins speak their first words. Kate's been speaking new words every day...sentences (her favorite..."I got you"...followed by a cheeky grin and laugh). It really is one my favorite things about being a mom...watching them learn new things, speak new words, do new things. Not much can compare. Even Ava's 50 billion questions in a row..."Mommy...how does the sun go down?" or "Daddy...how does it rain"...followed by 50 more "why's" and "how's". I don't think I could ever get tired of that! Squeaky Sue

After 6 days with a sore throat and a gradually fading voice, my voice box decided to call it quits today. I didn't realize until I called my dad up this morning at 8am for some guidance on a utilization calculation for work, opened up my mouth, and....nothing! So...this was a dilemma. Husband out of town. No voice. Two demanding children. Hmmmm. But we made it through today. With some squeaking, a lot whispering, some "mom" grimaces (and smiles too)...we made it through. Ava kept saying..."mom, talk loud" and at times got frustrated, but by the end of the day she was so cute and whispering with me. I explained to her this morning that my voice was sick which was why I had to whisper...and then later in the day she started asking..."voice feel better mom?" She also just thought it was so hilarious when I put her to bed, whispering her prayers, Jesus Loves Me, The B-I-B-L-E and Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer (our nightly bed-side routine for about the p...

Meeting Baby Colin & Sibling Rivalry & Roosters

The highlight of today..meeting baby Colin...new bundle of joy to our good friend's Jenn & Brian. He is adorable to say the very least and Jenn & Brian are naturals! Of course when you go to a new baby's home you want nothing but to bring a peaceful visit. I don't know what we were thinking bringing our 1 & 2 year old kids (sorry Jenn & Brian!). As soon as we got there, Ava & Kate started full fledge fighting over who got to sit on my lap. After numerous girl screams, hair pulling (mostly by Kate), pushing (mostly by Kate) and knees to my stomach (Ava)...my husband, who was sitting across the couch laughing, finally came to my rescue...for them only to crawl right back to me and start the whole thing all over again. The girls have desperately been vying for my attention lately...much to Doug's comedic relief (and honestly sometimes...to my wits end).
