Adventures up North

One of our favorite places on this planet is Northern Michigan. Winters up there are spectacular…cozy, snowy, sparkly and cheery!  We woke up early the day after Christmas and drove straight to Boyne Mountain to ski for the afternoon.  One thing I love about Boyne is the number of friends from home who are also up there…we took our first lift up and ran into friends right away who we got to enjoy our afternoon with!

After a fun afternoon we checked into our cozy condo on Lake Charlevoix where we had a beautiful Winter view of the lake.

That night we met some good friends at one of our favorite Mexican spots in downtown Boyne City…Red Mesa.  We always like to get there early because it gets busy!!  Our favorites there are the platinum margaritas, tinga chicken tacos and guac.  It was delicious as usual and we had a blast with our peeps.

The next morning we woke up to fresh snow outside the window and were back at it on Boyne Mountain.  Skied all day with a break at Forty’s for lunch…I love warming up with a glass of wine and chicken tortilla soup!  We also bought a round of Fireball shots 🔥

After skiing all day we went home to warm up for a bit and then drove the kids back for night skiing.   While the kids skied we walked around the shops at the base and then found a spot in the main lodge by the biggest real Christmas tree I have ever seen.  It was beautiful…I could have sat there all night!  But instead we dropped the kids off at the condos with food and went for an adult dinner out at Cafe Sante in downtown Boyne City.  I had their Pasta Bolognese…everyone else had pizza.  Pizza’s looked good but I think they were all jealous of mine.  It was delicious and hit the spot! 😉

Next day was a repeat but instead of night skiing we retreated to our condos around 3 for naps followed by take out and a cozy night in.  The girls were so excited to get subway and play Mario Cart all night. I opted for takeout from cafe sante…tried the pizza this time!

The next morning we packed up to head back South.  Souls filled with new joy-filled memories but ready to be back home!  Another fun adventure up North in the books.  Incredibly thankful for this time with my 4 and friends.
