Under the Sea and Luau
Today we embarked on our under the sea adventure. We drove to a nearby park early in the morning to meet our own personal kayaking guide - Chris. The morning started with a little safety instruction, then we saddled up on kayaks and paddled out across the ocean. I was with Olivia, Katelyn was with Doug and I was so proud of Ava - she was brave enough to take out her own kayak. We had fun gliding on the kayaks across the beautiful water until we found a perfect spot near the reef to hop in and snorkel. Ava, Olivia, Doug and I jumped in right away...Kate needed some persuading (or to be pulled in on the count of 3 by Doug and I...we are mean parents!). I can understand the intimidation - but she ended up looking under the water and saw how magical it was! So much beauty-a whole new world under the sea. We swam with sea turtles, all kinds of beautiful and colorful fish (including the humuhumu!), eels, starfish and sting rays. It was amazing to say the least. I could have stayed underwater exploring for hours (but got a bit sea sick and ended up laying in the canoe to try and recover while the other 4 finished snorkeling at a second spot!).
After snorkeling, we drove back to the hotel and enjoyed some time at the pool. Loving all the sister time they're enjoying.
After the pool we got dressed in our luau gear and drove North to check into our next hotel...the Westin in Ka'anapali. Doug and I stayed in Ka'anapali on our honeymoon. It was so fun to be back reminisce (almost 15 years later)! They had ponds throughout the grounds filled with fish, flamingos, colorful birds. The girls were so excited when we checked in. All glammed up in our luau gear (dresses complements of the Easter Bunny) we ventured to the luau. This was one of our most fun nights of the trip. Amazing food, awesome entertainment...the girls even got to go on stage and try hula dancing. We absolutely love this night. It was fun and magical and I love watching my girls enjoy it so much! So thankful.
