Deck The Halls!

I am telling you what...September through December are my favorite months out of the year. But...December takes the cake! All the JOY!  Christmas music, get togethers with family and friends, the tree, the gleam of lights, ornaments that bring back fun memories, snow, Christmas cookies (my new favorite - caramel popcorn...made some last night with the girls...yum!), gift giving, snuggling with my girls to watch Christmas specials on TV, kids program at church...the list of favorites is endless for me when it comes to Christmas. I love it!

And for some reason this year...maybe because I'm not in the process of moving, pregnant or walking around like a zombie 2 months post giving birth....I am on Christmas speed.

I can't help it!

We got back from our Thanksgiving trip and there is no denying it. Doug will just have to live with it. I think the girls are taking notes from their mother because they're right there with me...I'm having so much fun with Christmas preparations. So here's a glimpse of our first few days of December. We are almost finished decking our halls and looking forward to a joy-filled month anticipating that special day!  Merry Christmas:-)

Ava & I made this centerpiece...she picked out the beads all by herself and is SO proud of them.  She found them randomly at hobby lobby.  I think they're my favorite part of it all!  We were feeling a big twiggy when we made this:-)
 And...we finally got some snow here!  YAY!  We love snow in this family.  Nothing better than waking up and seeing the white stuff falling!  The girls got out and made snow angels, ate snowflakes and ran around for a while.  So much fun!

K, you crack me up! I love seeing your Advent on "speed", lol. How wonderful it was getting to see you all in person while you were in town! Thanks again for coming by--we loved it. Now we just wish we could swing by and get a dose of your energy... Alas, we are still post-baby and trying to find our sea legs! :) xo

...Can't describe how much I love to hear my little munchkins speak their first words. Kate's been speaking new words every day...sentences (her favorite..."I got you"...followed by a cheeky grin and laugh). It really is one my favorite things about being a mom...watching them learn new things, speak new words, do new things. Not much can compare. Even Ava's 50 billion questions in a row..."Mommy...how does the sun go down?" or "Daddy...how does it rain"...followed by 50 more "why's" and "how's". I don't think I could ever get tired of that! Squeaky Sue

After 6 days with a sore throat and a gradually fading voice, my voice box decided to call it quits today. I didn't realize until I called my dad up this morning at 8am for some guidance on a utilization calculation for work, opened up my mouth, and....nothing! So...this was a dilemma. Husband out of town. No voice. Two demanding children. Hmmmm. But we made it through today. With some squeaking, a lot whispering, some "mom" grimaces (and smiles too)...we made it through. Ava kept saying..."mom, talk loud" and at times got frustrated, but by the end of the day she was so cute and whispering with me. I explained to her this morning that my voice was sick which was why I had to whisper...and then later in the day she started asking..."voice feel better mom?" Meeting Baby Colin & Sibling Rivalry & Roosters

The highlight of today..meeting baby Colin...new bundle of joy to our good friend's Jenn & Brian. He is adorable to say the very least and Jenn & Brian are naturals! Of course when you go to a new baby's home you want nothing but to bring a peaceful visit. I don't know what we were thinking bringing our 1 & 2 year old kids (sorry Jenn & Brian!). As soon as we got there, Ava & Kate started full fledge fighting over who got to sit on my lap. After numerous girl screams, hair pulling (mostly by Kate), pushing (mostly by Kate) and knees to my stomach (Ava)...my husband, who was sitting across the couch laughing, finally came to my rescue...for them only to crawl right back to me and start the whole thing all over again. The girls have desperately been vying for my attention lately...much to Doug's comedic relief (and honestly sometimes...to my wits end). I just keep reminding myself that there will most likely come a day when my girls will outwardly wan...
