Wrestle Mania

About twice a day Ava decides to tackle Kate or visa versa, and it ends up in a wrestling match. They roll all over the floor, giggling like crazy. I'm a little nervous about this new found game because Ava is so much bigger than Kate, but it seems no matter how hard Ava tackles Kate...she goes back for more. I stand by through the matches and am usually able to break them up before they end up with someone crying, but they do have so much fun together...and I just love their sweet sister giggles. Much different than the spit tortures I used to give my brother's (hopefully the girls don't ever learn that trick;-)).

Squeaky Sue

After 6 days with a sore throat and a gradually fading voice, my voice box decided to call it quits today. I didn't realize until I called my dad up this morning at 8am for some guidance on a utilization calculation for work, opened up my mouth, and....nothing! So...this was a dilemma. Husband out of town. No voice. Two demanding children. Hmmmm. But we made it through today. With some squeaking, a lot whispering, some "mom" grimaces (and smiles too)...we made it through. Ava kept saying..."mom, talk loud" and at times got frustrated, but by the end of the day she was so cute and whispering with me. Words...

...Can't describe how much I love to hear my little munchkins speak their first words. Kate's been speaking new words every day...sentences (her favorite..."I got you"...followed by a cheeky grin and laugh). It really is one my favorite things about being a mom...watching them learn new things, speak new words, do new things. Not much can compare. Even Ava's 50 billion questions in a row..."Mommy...how does the sun go down?" or "Daddy...how does it rain"...followed by 50 more "why's" and "how's". I don't think I could ever get tired of that! We snapped a quick movie of Kate's speaking her word for Grandpa..."Pee-paw". Yes...she calls him "Pee-paw".

Meeting Baby Colin & Sibling Rivalry & Roosters

The highlight of today..meeting baby Colin...new bundle of joy to our good friend's Jenn & Brian. He is adorable to say the very least and Jenn & Brian are naturals! Of course when you go to a new baby's home you want nothing but to bring a peaceful visit. I don't know what we were thinking bringing our 1 & 2 year old kids (sorry Jenn & Brian!). As soon as we got there, Ava & Kate started full fledge fighting over who got to sit on my lap. After numerous girl screams, hair pulling (mostly by Kate), pushing (mostly by Kate) and knees to my stomach (Ava)...my husband, who was sitting across the couch laughing, finally came to my rescue...for them only to crawl right back to me and start the whole thing all over again. The girls have desperately been vying for my attention lately...much to Doug's comedic relief (and honestly sometimes...to my wits end).
