A Little Bit of This & That

We have been working with Ava & Kate on sharing lately. It seems that whatever one is playing with...the other one wants. And let me tell you...the girls have some pretty powerful vocal chords (high pitched squeals) when they don't get their way. So needless to say...we've been "cracking down", working on mitigating the arguments (and high pitched squeals). So on days like today when Ava, the big sis, seems to display some sense of maturity and involve her sister in her play activities, sharing along the way...it makes me so happy! I know we'll always have battles, but we're working to develop a relationship in the girls of love, kindness, thoughtfulness and friendship towards each other. Here is a shot of them sharing...Ava gave Kate one of her Thomas slippers and they were both walking around playing with one Thomas slipper on all morning. They alternated between Little People, Trains, dress up and coloring. Thank God for peaceful mornings!
After naps, the girls and I ventured out to run some errands....a Father's Day gift being one of my missions! With the move, we've been blessed that Doug's job allows him to work from home. We made one of the downstairs front rooms into an office, but with the girls running around...he needed to re-locate to a small bonus room off our bedroom (he needs peace and quiet!). We haven't gotten around to moving one of the desks upstairs to this room...and only have my office chair...so he's been sitting at a card table and card table chair all day to work. So we thought it was time for him to have a comfy chair...perfect gift for Father's Day! We found one at Office Max and with Father Day still 5 days away...I reiterated to to Ava and Kate that we needed to keep it a secret.

Well...at dinner...we made it through the whole time without a peep...until Ava jumped off her chair, looked at me and while looking at me exclaimed..."daddy we got you a chair for father's day." She spilled the beans! Right after she spilled the beans she started crying. Poor thing! I think she knew it was supposed to be a surprise, but she just couldn't help herself! After a bit of consolation that it was okay...Doug and the girls went upstairs to put the chair together. Here are a few shots of my guy and girls. They love to help Daddy put stuff together. Happy early Father's day!

And lastly, here is a shot of one of our squirrels up in the berry tree behind our yard. They have been fun to watch...they hang on for dear life to snatch the berries from the tree. The girls have been loving all the birds, squirrels, chipmunks and frogs we have in our new backyard. I had to snatch a shot:-)
