Last Day - Aloha Hawaii!

Image
Today is our last day in Maui.  I can honestly say that this was a beautiful and perfect trip with my four.  So many memorable adventures.  So many smiles and laughs.  The best time together just being a family and enjoying God's beautiful creation.  We enjoyed the pool during the day...the girls got to swim and hold cockatoo's and we got to relax and enjoy some pina coladas of course!  On the way to the airport we stopped at the Mill House for dinner - such a beautiful place and the perfect setting for our last picturesque Hawaiian sunset. I am so incredibly thankful for this opportunity to take the girls back to where Doug and I honeymooned and explore this magical island with them.  So many memories were made.  With that - we say Aloha Maui!  Until next time!

Cabanas, sunshine and the Hula Grill

Our view today....we didn't do much other than the beach, pool, eating (lunch - at the Hula Grill which has our favorite barefoot beach bar on the planet), back to the beach, read (we rented a cabana which was so nice) and listen to the waves.  It was a perfect and beautiful day! We came to this spot every day on our honeymoon - it was fun to bring the girls :-) Kate playing on the beach.  Perfect view from my cabana... Back at Hula Grill for dinner!  So yummy.  And us girls can devour a dessert faster than anyone I know!

Slappy Cakes, Pool, Drinks and Sunsets

The morning after the luau we were hungry and wanted to utilize our creativity.  Doug and I saw a place called "Slappy Cakes" featured on the Food Network - and took the girls there to check it out.  There was a griddle in the middle of our table - and we got a few containers of pancake batter that the girls used to create pancake designs.   Katelyn made a sea turtle, Olivia made an emoji face and Ava made a Star Wars pancake (of course!).  Doug got the "Sloppy Moco"...beef patty, two eggs, two scoops of rice, mushroom gravy and crispy onions (it looked like something Old Shep had thrown up - a famous saying from my Dad).  The menu said it was a local favorite - so Doug said he had to get it! Back at the hotel - we were ready to relax (and the girls were ready to swim).  We spent the whole day at the pool.  It was glorious. At sunset we got all dolled up and walked down the boardwalk to Leilani's.  A restaura

Under the Sea and Luau

Today we embarked on our under the sea adventure.  We drove to a nearby park early in the morning to meet our own personal kayaking guide - Chris.  The morning started with a little safety instruction, then we saddled up on kayaks and paddled out across the ocean.  I was with Olivia, Katelyn was with Doug and I was so proud of Ava - she was brave enough to take out her own kayak.  We had fun gliding on the kayaks across the beautiful water until we found a perfect spot near the reef to hop in and snorkel.  Ava, Olivia, Doug and I jumped in right away...Kate needed some persuading (or to be pulled in on the count of 3 by Doug and I...we are mean parents!).  I can understand the intimidation - but she ended up looking under the water and saw how magical it was!   So much beauty-a whole new world under the sea.  We swam with sea turtles, all kinds of beautiful and colorful fish (including the humuhumu!), eels, starfish and sting rays.  It was amazing to say the least.  I could have staye
